A node directory is more than a list of cities. The entry point, exit point, target service, and local network all shape the actual experience; the order in which you assess them matters more than the node name.

Entry Point

The entry point determines the access path

The entry point is where your device first connects to an international route. For everyday browsing, choose an entry point that is geographically closer so the path from your local network is more direct. If a nearby city offers both a private line and a relay, test the private line first, then assess page loading, connection persistence, and peak-hour performance.

Exit Point

The exit point determines the service region

International websites see the region where the exit point is located. Choose a Japan exit for Japanese content and a United States exit for services intended for the US. The entry and exit points may be in the same city or connected through a relay network. Looking only at the city in a route name without checking the final exit can lead to a mismatch between your account region and access region.

Use Case

Your use case determines the selection criteria

Web browsing, video, AI Tools, gaming, and remote work prioritize different route qualities. Browsing benefits from consistent response times, video from sustained throughput, AI Tools from session persistence, gaming from path stability, and work from both stable identity and reliable access to business applications. Route types describe how data is organized from entry to exit. Different names reflect differences in path control, suitable use cases, and operating cost.

IEPL Private Line

An IEPL private line connects the entry and exit points through a planned international link, keeping outbound and return traffic on a controlled path whenever possible. Its value is not a fixed speed figure, but reduced impact from frequent public-internet route changes on long-lived connections. Video playback, remote meetings, file synchronization, and continuous AI Tools conversations often benefit from this path consistency.

Private-line infrastructure costs more to build and maintain than a standard public-internet direct route, so it is generally deployed first in cities with concentrated demand. The route must still match the target region: choose a US exit for US services rather than overlooking the final content region simply because Tokyo is a nearby entry point. Private lines are a strong choice when stability comes first, although local access quality still affects the outcome.

RELAY Relay

A relay route first sends device traffic to a suitable access point, then forwards it through an intermediate network to the target exit. It divides a longer, more variable international path into manageable segments, making it practical to provide exits in more cities and regions. Where no private-line entry is available, a relay is often a practical balance between coverage and connection performance.

More relays are not automatically better. An effective relay gives the entry point, handoff point, and exit clear roles and avoids a path that runs noticeably against the target direction. Its cost is typically between a private line and a standard direct route, making it useful for regional expansion, streaming-specific exits, and backup routes. When a platform changes its regional detection, relay exits can also be adjusted more easily.

DIRECT Direct

A public-internet path for lightweight access

A direct route connects the local network to an exit in the target region without a specially arranged relay entry point in between. Its simpler structure suits ordinary web browsing, research, occasional account management, and lightweight tasks with a clearly defined regional exit. Direct routes also help cover countries and cities with lower traffic, keeping the directory more complete.

Direct paths depend more heavily on local carriers and public-internet routing, so fluctuations may be more noticeable during busy periods or intercontinental access. They usually cost less than private lines and multi-stage relays, but cost alone does not determine a route’s value. For a distant target region or a task requiring a persistent connection, compare a relay or private line in the same region first; for a short visit, direct access is often sufficient.

Define the task first, then choose the exit region and route type. The methods below do not depend on latency rankings or repeatedly chasing a particular node name.

Everyday Browsing

For reading web pages, searching for information, and using common international websites, start with a nearby Asia-Pacific entry point. Tokyo, Singapore, or Hong Kong routes often provide a more direct access path. Open several pages on familiar sites in succession, then check login persistence, image loading, and page transitions for stability.

If a nearby direct route is inconsistent on your local network, switch to a relay in the same region. If you need a browser session to remain active for a long time, compare a private line in that region. There is no need to add distance by choosing an unrelated remote region unless the website explicitly requires an exit there.

Streaming

Match the content library’s region first, then choose a route labeled for the relevant platform. Use a Japan exit for Japanese content, a US exit for a US library, and check UK routes for BBC iPlayer. Account, billing, and exit regions can all influence what a platform displays; switching the node alone may not change an existing account-region setting.

Before playback, close old pages, reconnect, and reopen the platform to confirm the content region. If the library loads but playback stops, first switch to a private line or relay in the same region rather than immediately changing countries. Picture quality depends on sustained transfer capacity, so a fast initial load does not represent the entire playback session.

AI Tools

AI Tools often involve login checks, ongoing conversations, file uploads, and lengthy generation tasks. Prioritize session persistence, using a private line or stable relay in a region where the target service is available. Once a task begins, avoid frequently changing countries, as a different exit region can trigger reauthentication or interrupt an active session.

If text chat works but file uploads repeatedly fail, try another route type within the same country. If the login page and workspace behave differently, clear old tabs and test again. Distinguish server load, browser state, and route issues rather than declaring a node unavailable after a single failed generation.

Gaming

First confirm where the game server is located instead of choosing a route based on account language or store region. Use a Japan entry point for Japanese servers and the corresponding North American exit for North American servers. Once the geographic direction is correct, compare private lines and relays for stability during an ongoing match, focusing on reconnects, matchmaking interruptions, and voice continuity.

Updates and downloads can use a different route from live gameplay. Downloads prioritize sustained transfer, while gameplay depends more on path changes and connection persistence. If the client supports per-app routing, let only the game process use the international route and keep other local apps on their existing paths to reduce unrelated traffic during testing.

Remote meetings, business email, document collaboration, and code repositories often run at the same time. Choose a work route that matches the region of your business services and keep the exit stable. For a connection that must last through the workday, a private line is generally better as the primary route, with a relay in the same region available as an alternative.

Business systems may impose additional requirements on login regions and session state. Connect first, then open your work applications; avoid switching between countries during a work session. If only one application is inaccessible, check business permissions, the browser session, and the application’s proxy settings before changing routes.

Switching Methods

A repeatable route-selection workflow

Change one condition at a time. Testing in a fixed order shows why a switch helped and makes the result easier to reuse later.

  1. Define the target service and region

    Write down the service, required content region, and task type first. Watching a US library and logging in to a Japan-region account are different goals, not one generic “fastest route.” Once the goal is clear, eliminate exits that do not match the region.

  2. Start with a geographically appropriate route

    If the target is in Japan, start with a Japan route; for a European target, choose the corresponding European exit.
